Although some of the people in your life are liable to have no issue with vaping, others may not appreciate you having a vape in their presence. While situations like this can certainly be frustrating for both parties, it is incumbent upon vaping enthusiasts to become familiar with conflict-avoidance measures. Stopping potential arguments in their tracks is much easier than you may think, especially if you’re equipped with the proper advice. So, in the interest of avoiding conflict with the non-vapers in your life, put the following pointers to good use.
Avoid Vaping at Crowded Gatherings
When attending family get-togethers, formal events, or neighborhood shindigs, take care to avoid vaping, especially in the presence of others. Given how many people are likely to be around, there’s a good chance that someone is going to be inconvenienced by your vaping.
Abstaining from taking out your vape equipment is particularly important at gatherings that are awash with people you don’t know very well or are just meeting for the first time. Needless to say, vaping in front of a stranger isn’t the best way to make a favorable first impression.
If you feel like you absolutely must vape at a crowded gathering, take care to do so outside – and well away from non-vapers. After all, conflicts with strangers are the last thing you want to be dealing with at formal events.
Never Blow Vapor Clouds in the Direction of Others
Blowing your vapor clouds in the direction of others is extremely inconsiderate behavior. Not only is this incredibly rude, it’s also highly unsanitary – especially in light of the threat presented by COVID-19. Needless to say, blowing vapor clouds into people’s faces isn’t the behavior you should be engaging in when a highly contagious virus that spreads through aerosols is infecting people left and right.
So, when vaping in the presence of others, make a point of blowing your vapor clouds away from them. In addition to helping curb the spread of the novel coronavirus, this can prevent friends and family members from being exposed to cartridge aromas they may find unpleasant.
Don’t Attempt to Argue with Non-Vapers
If a friend or family member asks that you stop vaping in their presence or expresses an opinion on vaping that runs counter to your own, avoid engaging them in an argument. Flying off the handle will serve no purpose other than to make the other party less amenable to being vaped in front of.
So, no matter how bothersome you find the request, simply stop vaping whenever someone asks you to. There are many reasons why some people aren’t keen on vaping, so instead of interpreting the aforementioned request as a personal attack, just assume that the other party is asking in good faith.
Ask if You’re Not Sure
There’s a good chance that vaping is prohibited in most of the public spaces you enter. However, when a business’s vaping policy isn’t prominently displayed, some people take this to mean that vaping is completely acceptable. Such assumptions can result in public humiliation, bans from your favorite haunts, and possibly even fines.
Not only can vaping in prohibited spaces cause you great embarrassment, it also stands to humiliate anyone you happen to be with at the time. So, for both you and your friends and family members, simply ask whether or not vaping is allowed whenever you’re unclear.
Keep Your Equipment Well-Maintained
Poorly-maintained vape equipment is liable to experience leakage, which can be a tremendous inconvenience to you and those around you. You can nip this problem in the bud by taking proper care of your equipment and replacing it as needed. For example, if you’re currently wondering, “How long do vape coils last?” make sure to educate yourself on good coil maintenance.
It should come as no surprise that some of the people in your life are going to be more amenable to vaping than others. For example, while the non-vapers in your inner circle may not have any strong objections to vaping as a whole, they’re liable to express annoyance if you don’t practice proper vape etiquette. Fortunately, avoiding conflict in these situations doesn’t have to be an uphill battle – particularly if you have the previously discussed pointers at your disposal.
