The Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) is the competitive exam for candidates whose dream job is to serve the nation in Indian Air Force. The department invites female and male candidates for Officer rank personnel in flying or ground duties. Aspirants can appear for both Technical and Non-Technical entries. Many students appear for this exam every year, and the Indian Air Force recruits few.
It’s because most of them either do not prepare well or prepare at the last stage. Personally, no one endorses study 30 or 31 days before any examination. Start studying from day one when you apply for it. Whether it’s your 10th grade, 12th grade or any other examinations like AFCAT, you should follow the same mantra. Here in this blog, we have brought exam attempting tips and AFCAT Preparation Tips to help you get a good score.
What is the exam pattern of the AFCAT?
A total of 100 questions is entailed in the AFCAT question paper carrying three marks each. It means the total weightage of the exam is 300 marks. A negative marking scheme is applicable here also. However, the unattempted question won’t deduct your marks. Aspirants who wish to apply for Ground duties or technical branches have to undergo EKT. After clearing these rounds, they are shortlisted for personal interview and screening.
How to clear AFCAT and get a good score?
Save Time in the General Awareness section
Many of you think that paper will be easy and ignore its complexity level. But friends, it’s 100 questions you have to solve in 120 minutes. On average, you get only 1.2 minutes to solve each question. Tougher sections like numerical ability and logical reasoning are Time consuming. If you waste your precious time on other parts of the paper like General awareness or others, how will you finish the paper on Time? General Awareness is the easiest section that every candidate feels. Save your Time there and utilize it for the challenging sections.
Don’t ignore the cut-off
Many aspirants focus on AFCAT preparation but ignore the cut-off criteria. It is advisable to all candidates that please be aware of the cut-off. You won’t see your name in the AFCAT Merit List unless you consider this factor. Dreams of many breaks for a few marks or percentage. Try to score as many marks as you can so your chances of shortlisting also increases. Every year the cut-off criteria vary, and you must push yourself more to score more.
Explore the syllabus
Without knowing the syllabus, what topics will you prepare? It’s not an overnight job to complete the entire AFCAT syllabus. There are a total of 4 main parts included in the syllabus:
