Installing WinX DVD Ripper is just like what we do for other programs on Windows. You should double-click the .exe executable file to start the installation. You can set it to HQ for slower ripping, with better quality and larger file size, or LQ for lower quality but faster speed in ripping and smaller file size.
Basic DVD Editing and DVD Preview
We don’t always want the full disc and sometimes we just need a small part of the DVD. WinX DVD Ripper Platinum can trim any part of the DVD for us. And, it’s easy to trim within the Edit window. We just need to enable Trimming and drag the triangle or set the Start or End Time ourselves.
Within the editing window, some other basic DVD editing features may attract you like Crop and Expand. You can increase the DVD volume by up to 200% in General. Surely, you can preview the whole DVD here as well!
Advanced User Settings
For general DVD ripping, we recommend you guys to keep the default settings within the program as they just work fine.
However, if there is anything wrong with the ripping, you can check Safe Mode in WinX DVD Ripper Platinum. It is a bit slower but this time it will work for you!
“Use High-Quality Engine” and “Deinterlacing” are the other two advanced settings in the main UI along with Safe Mode. However, I think they will only work for old DVDs that are not very clear in quality or interlaced.
Besides, some other advanced details can be set in Option. You can click the gear icon to access them. Here, you can set the video codec, bit rate, FPS, aspect ratio, resolution as well as audio codec, channel, sample rate, and bit rate!
The Mac version: Rip DVDs on Big Sur and Silicon M1 Macs
Digiarty names its Windows version WinX DVD Ripper Platinum and Mac version WinX DVD Ripper for Mac. We notice there is NO Platinum in the name. Do they work differently? Does that mean the Mac version is less powerful? From what I can see, they work just the same. The Mac version supports the latest macOS Big Sur and Silicon M1 Macs like MacBook Air, Pro, and Mac Mini.
Please note if you are running macOS Catalina or Big Sur, be sure to allow the program to access the removable volume, which is your DVD drive, as shown below. Or, you won’t be able to load the DVD to the program for ripping.

Step 1. Load DVD
Click the DVD Disc button on the upper left corner to load a DVD from your DVD drive. You can also load a DVD ISO Image file from the ISO Image button or DVD VIDEO_TS folder from the Folder button.
